Spiritual & Metaphysical Healing: A Holistic Approach

The purpose of healing is to bring our consciousness back into alignment with Love. This brings light into the parts of us that have been dimmed by our pain, trauma, fear, worry and anxiety.

Our consciousness, in its purest form, actually exists in a constant state of balance and well-being. To access that state of being, we have to remove the disruptions that are hindering the natural flow of energy within our consciousness. This is why we heal. I will go more into HOW TO HEAL in a future article.

Our brains are powerful and they often get in the way of making healing more tangible and accessible. Healing is a process that takes time and repetition, chipping away at the pain bit by bit. For many people’s nervous system, this feels safer.

It is okay to ease into your healing and allow it to take time. You have eternity. You don’t have to get it all done in this one lifetime. You will have as many more chances as you need. This perspective does not mean it has to take many lifetimes. But, sometimes we have to trick our brain into relinquishing the pressure so that it frees us up to do the healing work.

For a truly holistic approach, it is important to understand some of the theories and philosophies of spiritual and metaphysical healing.

Awareness is key.

You cannot do anything about what you do not know. Think of approaching healing as investigating and excavating. This allows you to gain the clarity and understanding of your patterns and what is getting in the way of your well-being.

You can be proactive and go searching for what is in pain and out of alignment with Love and well-being in your consciousness. Or, you can address your unhealed parts as they arise in response to life when they get triggered and brought to your awareness. As long as you are doing at least one of these, you will get there. Doing nothing will get you nowhere.

You do get to choose.

Although you have eternity, and will eventually get there in this life or a future lifetime, do you really want to continue avoiding your healing and staying stuck in your suffering for longer than you have to?

Whatever is unhealed at the end of this life will be carried with you into the afterlife and potentially into your next life. Our unhealed parts do not magically go away when we die. Healing is possible in the afterlife, but is dependent on your awareness and the way you were living life.

The more resistant you are to your healing, the more you anchor in those wounds and unhealed parts, feeding and allowing them to grow stronger.

The metaphysical theories & philosophies.

Law of Attraction

This philosophy states that the energy of your beliefs and emotions brings you into alignment with people and experiences that are a vibrational match. This does not mean every single thought and emotion you have is going to manifest. This philosophy is much more nuanced. The Law of Attraction requires repetition.

Look to your repeating patterns and cycles to help you understand what within you is bringing you into alignment with people and experiences that are a reflection of your consciousness and your relationship with yourself.

When you are trying to understand your repeating patterns and cycles, use the Law of Attraction to gain understanding. To do this, ask the question, “What is my relationship with this person or experience reflecting back to me about my relationship with myself?”

This will give you the clarity of what within you is bringing you into alignment with these patterns and cycles. With that, you can know what you need to focus on healing so that you can break the cycle.

Law of Polarity

This philosophy tells us that energy exists on a continuum and is dualistic in nature. Everything in the Universe, including our consciousness, exists in this polarity of opposites. Much of the metaphysical healing world labels this energy as positive and negative.

Personally, I like to label energy as expressions of Love or fear. The word negative often has a connotation associated with it that sparks feelings of judgment, wronging and shame; which can lead to us feeling disempowered when we are feeling or thinking what someone may label as negative.

Love energy is what someone might label as positive and fear energy is what someone might label as negative. Love and fear are opposites and exist on the same polarity continuum.

It is important to have a realistic approach. Healing does not mean that you will not have thoughts and feelings of fear anymore. The brain has stored memories and imprints from everything you have experienced. It is sometimes going to have fear thoughts and emotions, and that is okay.

The goal in healing is to recognize when you are in fear consciousness and choose to not engage with it, which in turn feeds it. Instead, acknowledge it, breathe through it, and then redirect your awareness back to Love. This REDIRECTION is one of the most powerful tools in healing that we have.

Contrast

The brain perceives and learns through contrast. This is its way of giving us information, ideally for the sake of clarity. This creates a greater possibility of bringing the unconscious to the conscious mind.

Pain is the contrast to healing. For many people, pain becomes so familiar that their nervous system adjusts to it as the norm. The brain often perceives familiar as safe because it feels safer in the knowns of life.

Because the brain often perceives the known as safe, it is likely to convince you that the feeling good that comes from healing is not safe for you. It will try to convince you to stay in the familiar known pain because your brain has adapted to life with that.

The thought of not having the pain anymore frightens and confuses your brain because it does not know what life will be like without it. This makes your brain struggle to give you access to trusting the process of healing and its potential of bringing you back to Love, peace, joy and all you are seeking.

Just because your brain might try to convince you that what your pain tells you is the ultimate truth of life, I am here to remind you, it is not. Actual truth is what empowers, not disempowers.

The Healing Continuum

Spirit taught me that the process of healing exists on a continuum with three phases.

  • Healing  ⇨  Integration  ⇨  Embodiment

Healing

In the this phase, you are doing the investigative work in your consciousness to understand what is unhealed and how to transform it. This is where you are getting the clarity and understanding of your patterns and how they are all connected. You might even be processing, clearing and moving the energy that has manifested within you from your unhealed parts.

Integration

In the this phase, you are putting into practice what you learned in the healing phase. This is about you making new choices and decisions and approaching life in a more empowered way. Integration requires repetition.

Think of it like exercising a muscle. With each empowered choice you make, that muscle of the healed and healing parts of you get stronger. The more you do this, the more embodied you become in the empowered parts of you. In this phase, you will still experience the old patterns and cycles, but mixed with the new patterns and cycles as they mesh and realign.

Don’t let this disempower you and have you believing that the healing you are doing is not working. Your consciousness will still come into alignment with the old cycles occasionally so that you have the opportunity to integrate what you learned in the healing phase.

I like to call these, “Are you sure?” moments. Your Higher Self is asking you, “Are you sure that you believe that you are worthy and bring value to the world?” It is important that you say “YES, I am sure!”

What you learn in your healing processes has to be put into practice for you to shift from healing to HEALED.

Embodiment

In this phase, the new patterns and cycles become the dominant experience. Here you find that your old ways and patterns barely surface anymore if at all. You begin to see yourself and your life looking differently. You begin to see the results of your healing and your changed life in this phase.

Remember, what you experience in life is trying to give you information about your consciousness. Try to allow yourself to feel empowered about this perspective. Approach life with an investigative mentality so you can understand why you are aligning with your patterns and cycles of pain.

Information is power and ultimately brings clarity.
